Call me crazy but sometimes I find villains hotter than the hero. Am I the only one? I don’t think so and I have an idea of why this happens, especially in film. I blame it on the casting directors. They know what they are doing. Let me put it this way, when baddies are hot, they are really hot. In my heart, I know I should be rooting for the hero, but at the same time, I just can’t take my eyes off the villain.
Reasons Why People Find Villains Hotter
So… I’ve got a couple of reasons why people might sometimes find villains hotter than the hero. Are you ready for them?
1. They Are More Interesting
Usually villains aren’t born, they are made. Having said that, what led them to become that way. That’s the interesting part I want to know. In addition, I’m a total sucker for complex characters. You see, a villain’s mind is really something else, they operate on a totally different level. As twisted as you might find them, they are also fascinating characters.
2. They Do Whatever They Want
Let’s face it, baddies have more fun. Think about, they are inhibited and tend to do whatever they want. I guess it’s part of their “allure”. Who hasn’t fantasied about doing “bad things” and getting away with it? Villains just do it on a regular basis, like a full-time job.
3. They Are Often Very Persuasive
If you look closer, villains are incredibly charming people. The best baddies always have the best arguments. Therefore, I’m not surprised at all when I find myself agreeing with them. However, no matter how right they might sound, they are not completely right. Why? Because it’s not our place to play God. Many of these baddies think they are God and this is when they start to fail.
10 Times Villains Were Sexier Than The Hero
Here’s the list of hot villains (totally not ordered by their sexiness level).
1. Loki (Thor) – Tom Hiddleston
The “mischievous “brother”. Both Thor and Loki are very pleasing to look at, but Loki has a certain “je ne c’est quoi” about him. He’s mysterious and definitely “naughty” because you never know on which side he’s on. Despite of all of his mischief, the audience (especially females) might still root for him. Why? Well, he’s not totally evil, he’s just “naughty”.
2. Le Chiffre (007 – Casino Royale) – Mads Mikkelsen
The creepy “sexy” guy. Le Chiffre’s appeal is an authentic puzzle to me. So… I’m not sure whether he’s a creep who I find sexy or a sexy man with creepy tendencies. Do you understand why I mean? Anyhow, just when you thought that all eyes would be on Daniel Craig playing James Bond, he does have some competition in “007 – Casino Royal”. Well, I blame it on Mads Mikkelsen who’s a fine actor and a fine ass man in his own right.
3. Devil (Bedazzled) – Elizabeth Hurley
If you think sexy and funny don’t really go together, think again. As you can see, the “Devil” (Elizabeth Hurley) from Bedazzled is pretty hilarious and sexy at the same time. Of course, we have to give credit to the actress that plays the “Devil”. She was the hottest thing in the film, not even Elliot’s love interest (Allison) looked “interesting” enough next to her.
4. Magneto (X-Men: First Class) – Michael Fassbender
The “hot” tortured soul. Okay, if you never thought Magneto as a sexy character, then go watch “X-Men: First Class”. You’ll not regret watching a young Magneto in action. Once again, the casting directors knew what they were when they decided to cast Michael Fassbender to play the baddie Erik Lensherr a.k.a Magneto.
5. Jennifer (Jennifer’s Body) – Megan Fox
The “sexy” best friend. Who’s Jennifer? She’s that hot girl that every teenage boy wants. Unfortunately, a satanic ritual turns her into a demon that eats boys. I guess one can call her a “boy-eater”? To be honest, it’s almost unfair to compare Megan Fox (in her prime) to any of her co-stars. Having said that, she was the perfect choice to play Jennifer.
6. Khan (Star Trek: Into Darkness) – Benedict Cumberbatch
Personally, I’m not a huge Star Trek fan but Khan kept me glued to the screen. I just couldn’t take my eyes of him. Don’t get me wrong, Captain Kirk (Chris Pine) is cute but Khan (Benedict Cumberbatch) is hot. There’s definitely something alluring about a mysterious villain. They really keep us on our toes because we’ve no idea about what are they going to do next.
7. Simon Gruber (Die Hard With A Vengeance) – Jeremy Irons
To be honest, both John McClane (Bruce Willis) and Simon Gruber (Jeremy Irons) are played by very attractive fellas. However, do you want to know how hot Mr. Irons is as a German terrorist? Well, that does sound wrong… Anyhow, imagine a scale where you find Bruce Willis hot, then Mr. Irons is straight up “lava”.
8. Ravenna (Snow White And The Hunstman) – Charlize Theron
Yeah, Snow White (Kristen Stewart) is pretty and all, but her evil stepmother is something else. Once again, I know I should be rooting for Snow White, but I don’t want her stepmother to be out the picture yet… I want to see what she’s going to do next. Once again, I’m blaming on the actress that plays the evil role so well, the magnificent Charlize Theron.
9. Jerry (Fright Night) – Colin Farrell
If you had a blood sucking neighbour that looked like Colin Farrell… would you be less upset? I mean, if I’m going to have a vampire as my next door neighbour, please let it be, someone as hot as Colin Farrell. You want to drink my blood? Hell… yeah! As I see it, when you loose some (or all) of your common sense, it means that the person standing in front you is really hot.
10. Catherine Tramell (Basic Instinct) – Sharon Stone
Not all badass female characters need to be on the good side and Catherine Tramell (Sharon Stone) is one bad bitch. In addition, there’s nothing “basic” about Basic Instinct. For the sake of the argument, let’s consider Nick Curran (Michael Douglas) the “hero” in story. He’s not perfect, but he’s on the side of the law. Back to Catherine, she’s what I call “dangerously sexy”.
Well, I guess it’s not that crazy to lust for the villain after all. However, I do have to admit: it’s an acquired taste.
