Rihanna is the ultimate bad bitch! Period. And I meant it as a compliment. Her “Bitch Better Have My Money” video is definitely a breeze of fresh air. Why? I haven’t feel that entertained after watching a video for a very long time. I always enjoyed RiRi’s music but never considered myself as a fan, well… now I am.
There are a lot a girls that are trying to “be bad” in the music industry, but they always look like they are trying too hard. Not Rihanna though. As I see it, there’s no such thing as “good girl gone bad”. In her case, is more like: “I was born bad, I just didn’t know it”. That’s how I feel about Rihanna’s evolution as an artist and I’m loving it!
I don’t understand why some people are so shocked with the amount of violence in the video. It’s a revenge fantasy, no one got hurt during the filming of the video! For all the “concerned parents” out there, you’ll have to suck it up. This “bad bitch” is here to stay. By the way, RiRi is not a bad role model because she never signed up for that role. Whether you like her or not, you’ll have to commend her for keeping things fresh and push some boundaries from time to time.
Whether it was intentional or not, the video teaches an important lesson about gender equality: it’s not only about men and women having access to the same opportunities and privileges but also accepting idea that women can be just as dangerous as men. Remember Amy Elliott Dunne from Gone Girl? Rihanna’s character is like a “messier” version of her. Different “styles” aside, they both represent women that go for what they want and are absolutely unapologetic about it.
Rihanna alone is more than sufficient to make the video awesome but casting Mads Mikkelsen as “The Accountant” a.k.a the “The Bitch” was a brilliant move. The man is best known for playing Hannibal Lecter on NBC’s “Hannibal”. I think it’s kinda of ironic to see the actor that plays the infamous cannibal being killed and tortured by another merciless counterpart. Talking about the show, unfortunately my predictions became true and “Hannibal” got cancelled after three seasons due to low ratings. Why do all the good things need to come to an end? What a shame…
If Rihanna was in front of me, I would definitely thank her for making my day with such a memorable and epic video! Well done, RiRi!
